Technology turns mobile devices into instant payment tool for healthcare professionals.

ATLANTA (February 27, 2017) – Brightree, a provider of cloud-based software to improve clinical and business performance of post-acute care companies, announced the release of the Brightree Patient Collections GetPaidHME app that provides home medical equipment (HME) providers and other healthcare professionals with an quick way to process patient payments through their smartphone or tablet anywhere in real time.

GetPaid, which runs on Apple and Android devices, allows the user to scan a sales order directly from the delivery ticket. The patient listing is then added to the delivery queue. Sales order data, including recipient information and the amount of money due, is automatically integrated into the app, eliminating the need for paper invoices.

Once the payment is processed using a major credit card, e-check, or FSA/HSA card, the app automatically posts the payment back into the Brightree core platform, streamlining the manual entry process. Patients receive an email receipt confirming the payment for their records.

“This revolutionary app was developed to address the growing need for HME providers to have a mobile way to collect payments with an application that would communicate back to their billing software to update the patient’s account and streamline payment processes,” said Shaw Rietkerk, executive vice president and general manager, Brightree Revenue Cycle Management.

Additional features of GetPaid include adding orders to the sales order currently in delivery and the ability to sign up clients for Brightree’s AutoPAY from within the app so future payments can be processed automatically.

“The GetPaidHME app was designed to modernize the delivery and payment workflow by giving providers a simple, cost-effective way to empower their delivery technicians, hospital liaisons, respiratory therapists and sales staff to collect payments,” said Jennifer Leon, vice president, Brightree Patient Collections.

“The idea for the app came from a request from Brightree customers who wanted to be able to take payments when they are working out of the office,” Leon said. “The need to collect out in the field further enhances the provider’s collection strategy, something they didn't have before. Now they do.”
