The coveted awards recognize excellence in customer service.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (March 9, 2017)—Staff members at the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) are winners in two categories of this year’s prestigious Stevie Awards competition: Business Development Professional of the Year and Front-Line Customer Service Team of the Year.

Cynthia Tolson, BOC Business Development Manager, is recognized as a gold Stevie Award winner for Business Development Professional of the Year. Tolson was hired in November of 2014 to spearhead a new business development unit for BOC. Working together with the customer service and marketing teams, she hired and trained a team that has helped BOC increase the number of BOC-accredited facilities by 10 percent in a shrinking marketplace.

BOC’s recognition as a winner of a bronze Stevie Award for Front-Line Customer Service Team of the Year is a result of the organization’s focus on customer service. “Customer First” is one of the company’s core values, and at the essence of its tagline: “We’re with you every step of the way. It’s our promise. Every patient, every certificant, every day.” In BOC’s entry submission, the company cited operational efficiencies designed to improve the customer experience, as well as exceptional personal assistance. For instance, after BOC’s credentialing manager assisted a certification candidate with identifying test preparation resources, he wrote her a note about how her assistance helped his family for the better and changed their lives.

“I am proud of the quality customer service BOC delivers to its customers and also of Cynthia, who has made such a positive impact on BOC’s business goals,” says BOC President and CEO Claudia Zacharias, MBA, CAE. “BOC has garnered five coveted Stevie Awards over the past four years. The fact that now we are recipients of two more is a heartening affirmation of our commitment to customer service, something we strive to uphold every day.”

The Stevie Awards are the world’s premier business awards created to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals worldwide. This year, 77 professionals worldwide served as preliminary judges to select finalists from among more than 2,300 nominations. Next, more than 130 members of seven specialized committees chose gold, silver and bronze awardees. The Stevie Awards announced these winners during a gala banquet on Friday, February 24 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
