Governor Malloy signed SB 243 into law on June 1.

HARTFORD, Conn. (June 6, 2018)—On Friday, June 1, 2018, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy signed SB 243, “An Act Concerning Audits of Medical Assistance Providers,” into law, effective July 1, 2018. For claims on or after July 1, 2018, Connecticut Medicaid providers will no longer be required to retain the original signature on prescriptions and proof of delivery.

"This is a huge win for our Connecticut members," said Karyn Estrella, president and CEO of Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England (HOMES). "We've been fighting this for years. With the strain of continuing reimbursement cuts, our members need regulatory relief. We thank Governor Malloy and the Human Services committee for supporting this important legislation."

"All HME providers serving Connecticut Medicaid recipients would like to thank the lobbying group at TCORS Capitol Group for their hard work in helping to navigate the waters of getting a bill raised and passed at the state capitol in Hartford," added HOMES Connecticut state chair, Jack Hogan, president and CEO, Health Complex. "Bill number SB 243 will give much needed relief to all HME providers. A special thanks to John Bailey and Alan Deckman who are the lobbyists that we worked side by side with on this issue." We anticipate a bulletin with this announcement from the Connecticut Department of Social Services within the next few weeks.
