ST. PAUL, Minn. (July 21, 2016)—Pediatric Home Service (PHS) announced that four nurses have been recognized in Mpls. St. Paul Magazine’s 2016 Outstanding Nurses awards as finalists, and two named winners—one in the Children’s Health category and the other in the Rising Star category.

This year marks the fifth year of Outstanding Nurse Awards. Nominations were assessed on a seven-point rubric that included: professionalism, bedside manner, patient interaction, credentials and experience, impact on an organization, leadership and an “it” factor exemplifying kindness, compassion and empathy. Additional weight was given to those who received multiple nominations from a variety of sources, and to those nominated by their patients or their patients’ families.

PHS Nurse Finalists include:

  • Children’s Health:
    • Doreen Carson, RN and PHS Infusion Nurse
    • Kate Joseph, RN, BSN and PHS Infusion Nurse
  • Public Health Activism:
    • Steve Moehrle, RN, BAN and PHS Nurse Supervisor
  • Rising Star:
    • Kate Joseph, RN, BSN and PHS Infusion Nurse
    • Jessica Riemenschnedier, RN, BSN, PHN and PHS Home Care Nurse

Carson and Riemenschnedier were both named winners in their categories.

Michelle Curley, infusion nurse manager, said she feels proud to employ exceptionally skilled nurses. “These nurses are impacting patients across the metro by using the full extent of their skills to help patients stay happy, healthy and at home with their families.” Curley went on to say that all finalists go above and beyond to provide the best care possible for their patients and were truly deserving of the recognition.
