Learn about pressure sore prevention in this presentation

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (June 20, 2017)—Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare’s VP of Pressure Prevention, Karen Lerner, will present “Befuddled about Bed Support Surfaces? Become an Expert” at the RESNA 2017 Annual Conference June 30 at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“Every patient is different,” said Lerner. “Using the right bed support surface for the patient’s specific needs will affect positive clinical outcomes where everyone can win—patients and providers alike.”

According to Lerner, bed support surfaces are the mainstay in pressure redistribution, which is paramount to preventing and treating pressure ulcers. Unfortunately, there is little training on when to use what product.

During her presentation, Lerner will discuss how proper use and procurement of bed support surfaces requires a multi-disciplinary approach. Knowing how and when to recommend and evaluate the clinical effectiveness and efficacy of bed support surfaces will help ATPs, clinicians and DMEs prevent pressure ulcers and help pressure ulcers heal more quickly.

Lerner is a registered nurse, wound care and rehab specialist with more than 25 years of industry experience. She has extensive experience as a public speaker, educating DME providers and clinicians on a variety of topics. Lerner’s speaking engagements include testifying before Congress on behalf of the Home Medical Equipment industry.

Since 2013, Lerner has worked as part of Team Pressure Prevention at Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare. Prior to joining Drive DeVilbiss and for more than 10 years, she was VP of Clinical Services at a Northeast-based DME, responsible for pressure prevention, respiratory and rehab sales as well as service and training.
