Don J. Wright will step in as interim.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 29, 2017)—In less than 24 hours from Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price’s September 28, 2017 statement of regret and correction over recent taxpayer funded travel, the man whom some pinned high homecare industry reform hopes on resigned.

“I have spent forty years both as a doctor and in public service putting people first,” Price stated first by way of HHS press. “It has been my personal honor to serve the American people, and I look forward to continuing that service.”

Price previously, publicly stated that all of this travel was approved by legal and HHS officials, with more “...I regret the concerns this has raised regarding the use of taxpayer dollars. All of my political career I’ve fought for the taxpayers. It is clear to me that in this case, I was not sensitive enough to my concern for the taxpayer. I know as well as anyone that the American people want to know that their hard-earned dollars are being spent wisely by government officials.”

Price was regarded by AAHomecare as “the most engaged and well-informed member of Congress when it comes to HME issues in recent years.”

October 2017 will begin with HHS deputy assistant secretary, Don J. Wright, at the helm of HHS.
