LENEXA, Kan. (Jan. 3, 2019)—Tim Ashe, president of Fazzi Associates, has been promoted to chief clinical officer (CCO) for WellSky, the health and community care technology company backed by TPG Capital. Ashe is described as championing the voices of clinicians and holds an extensive clinical background as an advanced practice nurse, nurse educator and nurse manager.

"I’ve been working in health care for over 20 years, and there’s always been a need for clinical expertise in health and community care technology," Ashe said. "For many companies, creating the CCO role is the result of meeting specific criteria or thresholds, however for WellSky, this role is the result of vision and most importantly customer need. As WellSky’s new CCO, I will extend my focus beyond service offerings and work alongside our clients, our executive team and our product development team to bring a clinical perspective to new, innovative technology built to transform care."

Among his many credits, Ashe was the co-director of the latest National State of the Industry Report™ and has co-directed many of Fazzi’s prior national studies. He is also currently a board member of the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts. Ashe will continue to serve as Fazzi president. As president, he has led the firm’s mission to make a difference in health care by strengthening the quality, value and impact of health care at home.

Since Fazzi’s acquisition by WellSky in 2018, Ashe has expanded this mission to span the care continuum and all clients served by WellSky.

WellSky continues to develop innovative technology and offerings that have meaningful applications for providers and patients. In his role as CCO, Ashe intends to create clinical programs that produce outstanding outcomes for patients in post-acute environments.

“Technology must enable safer, more efficient care without serving as a distraction for frontline practitioners,” Ashe said. "Leaning into my experience as a clinician, I will strengthen our ability develop efficient, effective and innovative technology and service solutions that ensure providers’ success. We can only innovate when we know what our clients need most to succeed. So, an important part of my role will be establishing client advisory boards and fostering a clinician community between WellSky, our partners, and our clients, so that together, we can collaborate toward success."

WellSky CEO Bill Miller said Ashe's career includes a rare range of clinical, operational, fiscal and academic roles. "It’s Tim’s breadth of experience and deep understanding of practical applications that will help our clients deliver improved care and enhanced outcomes for patients,” he said.

A critical part of WellSky’s larger mission of realizing care’s potential is delivering high quality industry education and thought leadership to clients. The company provides resources to help clients meet regulatory standards and understand the latest industry developments.

"It’s a challenging time to be a care provider," Ashe said. "Over the years, I’ve seen that fulfilling regulatory requirements can complicate and prolong a clinician’s day-to-day work. I also know that there is a strong correlation between variability and patient outcomes, which is why we are focused on standardized, evidence-based and risk-stratified care planning that can be scaled across large cohorts of patients. With these points in mind, I want to improve care quality, cost of care and profitability through our solutions."

Ashe earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Science degrees from the University of Rochester, a Bachelor of Skilled Nursing degree from St. John Fisher College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Nazareth College.
